Stock Market Volatility – this time it’s different?

March 06, 2025

I have had a few questions recently from clients concerned about politics and the economy.  I have been a financial advisor for 15 years now and seen many crises, real and imagined that affect our psyche relative to investing.  It always feels like “this time is different.”   I encourage you to read the two attached pieces. I wrote the “How to Invest” article back in 2022 when we had a very rough year in the stock market and received a few questions about volatility in the markets.

We have a natural human reaction to volatility where we want to move our money to safety.  I highly encourage you to have the exact opposite reaction to it after some more rational thought.  Volatility is an opportunity if you’re still in your working years.  If you’re retired, then your investments should already be positioned to weather volatility and deliver the income you need or want.

That is why we base our investment decisions on your current and future life situation and financial planning, not the current economic or political climate.

If you are one of our many clients in the Capital region who may be personally affected by government shrinking, there may be reason to review your investments in light of personal circumstances changing and we are here to help with that.

Please know that Vickie, Marquita and I are monitoring your investments and trying to find ways to take advantage of any volatility in the markets right now and have always done just that.

We hope you find some solace in the information attached and knowing that we are in your corner always!
